Artists from the Skipton and Craven area have been invited to submit new work on aspects of the heritage of Skipton and Craven. This is a collaborative exhibition between Craven Arts and Skipton Civic Society. During the course of the exhibition, there will be a programme of heritage talks, art workshops and artist demonstrations.

'Weather Forecast' is the latest exhibition held at Badger in the Wall Gallery in Clapham in the Yorkshire Dales.

Having a long history of supporting farming and the rural economy the show rotates between three of Hodder Valley's villages. This year’s show is to be held at Dunsop Bridge. We will be joining other artists and makers in the Craft marquee.

Responding to Yorkshire Poetry is the theme as artists respond to local poetry. Yorkshire is home to an abundance of talented poets, ranging from local enthusiasts to the nation’s Poet Laureate. They will choose a poem, a verse, or a piece of prose to display alongside their artwork, allowing you the visitor to engage more deeply with these paintings, the artists philosophy, and their personality.

The Gargrave Art Exhibition is a cultural and fundraising event in the village’s busy calendar and attracts visitors from far and wide. The Gargrave Art Exhibition is a ‘section’ of Gargrave Village Hall, (Registered Charity No. 222607) and the funds generated by the exhibition help maintain and enhance the community space which adds so much to the life of the village.

Legacy of the Land In celebration of Skipton Heritage/Sheep Day on 30th June 2024 and to honour the beauty of life in and around the Yorkshire Dales, the Foundation for Common Land (FCL) is delighted to announce the 'Legacy of The Land' exhibition at Craven Arts House, Skipton. This unique exhibition will run from 28th June to 20th July 2024, offering a rich tapestry of the region's heritage through various artistic mediums. 'Legacy of The Land' is a homage to the land, lives, and wildlife of the Yorkshire Dales, captured in poetry, photography, ceramics, textiles, and artwork. Additionally, visitors will find works inspired by heritage buildings, local landmarks, and other beloved aspects of the Dales. This exhibition is thoughtfully curated to parallel the 'Labour of Love' exhibition at the Dales Countryside Museum, which focuses on the land and the lives of those living and working on upland commons across Yorkshire, Shropshire, Dartmoor, and the Lakes. Together, these exhibitions provide a comprehensive exploration of the cultural and natural wealth of these regions. "We are thrilled to host 'Legacy of The Land' at Craven Arts House," said Claire Braeburn, The Yorkshire Dales Project Officer at the Foundation for Common Land. "This exhibition is a tribute to the incredible heritage and natural beauty of the Yorkshire Dales and the people who live and work here. We hope it will inspire visitors to appreciate and preserve these precious landscapes." The exhibition is part of the 3m National Lottery Heritage Funded Project ‘Our Upland Commons Project’ and grants from Esmée Fairbairn and Garfield Weston Foundations. Local funders include Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust and the Lake District National Park Authority. The exhibition is free of charge and open to the public from Wednesday to Saturday, 11 am to 4 pm.
